About us

Hello, my name is Jenni. I'm very happily married to a God-loving and good-lookin' man, Timmy Jarvis. I'm currently going to Lincoln Memorial University for nursing, and will graduate in May 2012. Tim is currently a teacher at Maryville Christian School. We are lovers and followers of Jesus Christ. My desire is that I'll strive to love and serve and learn about God more each day. I do not claim to have it all right or to have all the answers, and I certainly don't claim to live this life fully the way God intended. But I am working at it and growing everyday. I may trip and stumble from time to time, I am a sinner, but forgiven, reaching out for Jesus, and He has taken my hand. I've got my eyes on Him, my eyes are on the goal, and He is calling us. He is calling us into love. He is calling us into faith and to action. We want to make ourselves available and obedient to living this life for Him. He calls each of us to carry our cross, to lay down our lives, to put away our own human desires, and pick up the desires of Jesus. We are nothing special, but we want to walk down that path He is directing us in, the path laid out for us. Love. Love Him, love others, so deeply. We are all invited to be a part of His beautiful story.

The summers of 2009 and 2010 I spent in Kenya on mission trips, it was a truly a breathtaking experience, I felt like I was exactly where I was made to be. Tim was also there in 2010 which was were/when we got engaged. We both have the same desires placed in our hearts for missions and specifically Kenya. We are planning on returning to Kenya this summer on an open ended flight, and we will see what happens and where He leads us.

We want to be Jesus' hands and feet to care about the orphans, the displaced children, the widows, and to show them what love is, so that they may know love, and that HE is love, and HIS love is so much bigger than ours. We just want to love them, care for them, and teach them about Jesus, disciple them, so that they may have hope, faith and a relationship, and continue the cycle of love. We want to take care of "the least of these"(Matthew 25). Our hearts are in Kenya, and we have a passion to do this. Sometimes, however, it can be somewhat a frightening thought not knowing what to expect, what could happen, but that is where faith and trust in Him come in. Walk by faith, not by sight. I hope we can be strong and courageous, but we can't do it on our own. It will be a different life, a big adjustment, without   dishwashers, washing machines, a comfy bed, steady income, and good healthcare available.  And it will be hard to not have our families near by to visit whenever we want, spend holidays and vacations with them, etc. But they are only a phone call away, and to Jesus and share about Him with others is so much better than a life of comfort. We know that this is Gods will for our lives, and its what He's had planned for us, and its what we want to do. He will fill us with His strength and love. He will give us peace and joy, we will run and not grow weary. Jesus tells us to carry our cross, to lay down our lives, to put away our own human desires, and pick up the desires of Jesus. To walk down that path He is directing us in.

Matt 16:24 says "Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." Luke 14:26 "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple. And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple." I don't hate my family, I love them a lot. I don't hate myself. What he is saying, is that my desires to please God are to be so much stronger than my desires to please myself, to please my family. I think that this is saying that our love for HIM is to be so much greater, that he just wants us to choose to live our lives for him, not the life our parents want for us,  not the life that this world thinks we all need ("american dream"), not the life that I or my husband think is best, but the life the HE knows is best. He wants us to choose HIS life- because He is the Creator, and He created a path designed for us to walk down, but we have to choose to take that road, over EVERYTHING else. We are praying that our worldly desires be removed and replaced with His, and that we may be strong, obedient, and recognize that we can't do it alone in our flesh, but through Him, all things are possible.
